Flow Meter Selection Tool
InstruSelect is an independent flow meter selection tool designed to help engineers shortlist suitable technologies and compare options across multiple manufacturers. It supports early-stage selection using process conditions, application requirements, engineering rules, and published manufacturer data.
InstruSelect does not replace final manufacturer sizing or project approval. It helps users build a better shortlist before speaking to suppliers or manufacturers.
What it does
You enter your process conditions — fluid type and phase, flow range, pipe size, temperature, pressure, accuracy requirement, and where relevant conductivity, viscosity, density, solids and entrained gas. InstruSelect screens those inputs against established engineering selection principles and published manufacturer specifications, then returns a ranked shortlist of suitable flow meter technologies and models across manufacturers, with the reasoning behind each match.
What data it uses
Recommendations are built on published manufacturer data — datasheets, application notes and technical documentation — combined with engineering selection principles. InstruSelect does not invent or approximate specifications. Because manufacturers revise their figures, always confirm the exact specification of a chosen model against the manufacturer’s current datasheet. See data & validation →
What it does not claim
Results are independent shortlist guidance, not a manufacturer-approved or verified selection, and not a substitute for final project approval. InstruSelect sits before manufacturer sizing in the workflow: it helps you compare flow meter options across manufacturers before final validation with a supplier or manufacturer.
Why it belongs before manufacturer tools
Manufacturer sizing tools are excellent for configuring products within a single manufacturer’s range. InstruSelect is useful earlier — when you want to compare possible technologies and manufacturers before committing to one supplier route. It removes single-vendor bias from the early shortlisting stage and saves you reading multiple datasheets by hand.
Technologies covered
The current module covers the four most common industrial flow measurement technologies. Each has a dedicated selection guide:
